IT-planet 2009 extends boundaries!

National student IT-contest IT-Planet - 2009 starts on September, 1. The general partner and co-organizer of this unique educational project in the Southern Federal District is Southern Telecommunications Company. The event is also supported by Ministry of Telecom and Mass communications of Russian Federation, Ministry of Sports, Tourism and Youth policy, Ministry of Education and Science, the Offices of the Plenipotentiaries of the President of Russia and the business community and educational institutions throughout the country. CRN/RE and Linux Format magazines are the official media sponsors of IT-contest. Gurov and Partners Communication group provides PR-support.

For the first time IT-Planet took place in 2007 in the Krasnodar region and the Republic of Adygeya. In 2008 participants geography expanded on the Southern Federal District. And this year IT-Planet gets the All-Russia status. The number of IT-companies - partners of the event has increased several times. More than 400 institutions of secondary and higher education throughout Russia are invited to participate in the project.

IT-Planet - 2009 will go through several stages. First of all, an absentia online-round will be held at the official site of the contest www.planet-it.ru. The online-winners will be gathered at the "face to face" competitions in different federal districts of Russia. In April, 2010 the winners of the regional rounds will participate in the All-Russia final in Sochi. And the best finalists will be awarded by the opportunity to go on practice in leading IT-companies with employment perspectives. The Organizing Committee also plans to include the regional finalists into the database of promising talent for IT-companies in Russia.

IT-Planet – 2009 includes five nominations: Programming; Software employment and administration; Network systems and hardware; Media, graphics and photo; Innovations. The representatives of such leading international software companies as Intel, Microsoft, D-link, Oracle, 1C, Linux-Center, Adobe Systems are working upon the task for the participants.

"IT-Planet is aimed on support of active and talented young people, who chose IT as the scope of their future careers. We give them opportunities to exercise their knowledge and skills for self-improvement, get training and employment, - says Sergey Shalashny, Chairman of the Main Organizing Committee of the contest. – Most of the IT-Planet winners in 2007-2008 have already got good jobs or to be employed after graduation. The other main goal of the contest is promotion of information technology among students".
